For the final project, I want to focus on something about how the human mind is irreplaceable, despite AI exhibiting the capability of doing so much already and the potential to become a lot more. I came up with a couple ideas for what my project could focus on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The topic of anti intellectualism popped up in my head during our class discussions on creativity and art. More specifically, questions were raised about the importance of art in our society, and why AI doesn\u2019t seem to meet the standard of what we consider to be art. After all, art is just splattered paint on a canvas or a stone that’s been chiseled to resemble something, so why do we hold it to such a significance? Anti intellectualism has a similar devaluation of the meaning of art, along with skepticism towards other forms of intellectual pursuits. I think AI definitely amplifies this mindset in the way we utilize it, and that is what I would explore and elaborate on for this topic.

I feel like we as a society are steering towards, if not already become, an environment in which it’s \u201cevery man for themselves\u201d. Yes I realize this is obvious, I myself said \u201cduh\u201d as I was writing it. But it is to an extent that we hold the individual to a degree that devalues community in a way that, albeit far fetched, almost dehumanizes them in comparison. I\u2019ve observed a common attitude in response to various injustices done to humans, and that is something along the lines of \u201cwell it doesn\u2019t affect me so I\u2019m not going to do anything about it.\u201d Individual comfort has become prioritized over meeting common needs. I think the way in which AI caters to the individualistic mindset and further perpetuates individualism could be something worth exploring for this project.
